‘Duckbilling’ is an urban term or Internet slang that may have different interpretations depending on who uses it or how it is used in a sentence.  Many people refer to it, though, as smoking while sticking out one’s lips similar to a duck’s beak or bill.  This particular situation happens when smoking a cigarette which is said to be down to its roach. And since the cigarette is already smaller, one has to stick out his/her mouth to be able to smoke with it.  If somebody says one could still get a few hits from his/her cigarette by means of duckbilling, this person literally means that the other person may need to stick out his mouth or lips and shape it like a duck’s bill in order to smoke that last remaining part of the cigarette.

But there are also people who use the term ‘duckbill’ or ‘duckbilling’ as a reference to a feeling of disgust for the AutoComplete function when texting in mobile phones.  Some people are completely annoyed with the fact that the AutoComplete feature actually makes it more difficult to compose messages. Some people also hate the AutoComplete feature because it is considered a disturbance and could potentially waste time and effort.  Because of these sentiments, some people may blurt out that his/her cellphone or the AutoComplete feature is ‘duckbilling’ his/her texting because it caused a delay or an annoyance in composing a message.  In this example, the supposed friendly AutoComplete text messaging feature is actually ‘duckbilling’ the user and composer of the text message.

Both scenarios above use the term ‘duckbill’ or ‘duckbilling’ in very different ways.  At some point in a chat or text conversation, for example, some people may not totally understand what everybody is talking about when using these terms.  But as the conversation would go along, people should eventually get the meaning and the context of this particular urban slang.
