How many axles are there in a car?
Contrary to traditional perception of the 2-axle car, most modern cars have 3 axles. The front axle is actually made up of two independent axles in what is called the transaxle, plus there is a single axle at the rear of the car. Older cars have two axles, one each at the front and the rear. For toll purposes, however, tollway authorities generally count cars as having 2 axles.
