Gardasil is a brand of drug that is used to prevent specific strains of HPV or human papillomavirus. This virus is known to cause genital warts in both men and women. HPV is also the same virus that can cause cervical cancer in women. Through vaccination with Gardasil, some strains of HPV can be prevented. Boys and girls alike are said to be prone to having an infection with some strains of HPV and one good way to prevent such an infection is through Gardasil. Aside from genital warts, some HPV strains can lead to the dreaded disease called cancer. Women are vulnerable to getting cancer in their vaginal area, cervix, and also their anal area. HPV is also a cause of concern for medical experts because it can affect young boys and girls as early nine years old. For these reasons, Gardasil is strongly recommended by medical experts. Even for people who already have the infection, Gardasil may still be effective against other known strains of the virus.

Treatment with Gardasil should only be started with proper doctor advice. As with many other drugs and vaccines, Gardasil may also cause some side effects like pain, swelling, and bruising in the injection area. Some people may also get dizziness and headache after drug administration.
