Not too many people know that IRS stands for the Internal Revenue Sevice.  It is important to know that the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is the revenue service of the United States federal government.  IRS had 106000 employees in 2010.  The annual budget is about $12 billion.  IRS has an important history.  It was formed in 1862.  Keep in mind that IRS is a bureau of the Department of the Treasury.  Needless to say, it is under the immediate direction of the Commissioner of Internal Revenue.
