1. Exo comes from Exoplanet
The music group Exo derived its name from the exoplanet. Exoplanet is a term referring to planets outside of the Solar System.
2. Exo is a Chinese-South Korean Ban
Exo, produced by S.M Entertainment is a Chinese-South Korean boy band. Formed in the year 2011 in Seoul, South Korea, Exo comprises twelve members, nurturing their music at the same time in both South Korea and China respectively. Initially, the group was temporarily named M1 when it consisted of only seven members.
3. Exo has two sub-groups
The boy band Exo is subdivided into two subgroups, Exo-K and Exo-M. Through these groups, the band promotes their music simultaneously in both South Korea and China. Exo-K represents the Korea subgroup, and Exo-M represents the China subgroup.
4. Exo members love Korean Beef
The twelve members in Exo include Suho, Kai, Sehun, Baekhyun, D. O and Chanyeol who represent Exo K. Exo-M members include Kris, Lu Han, Tao, Chen, Lay, and Xiumin. Suho and Kris are the leaders of the respective Exo subgroups. All of the Exo members enjoy eating Hanwoo or the Korean Beef.
5. Exo has produced several prologue singles
Exo’s prologue single “What Is Love” released on January 30th in the year 2012, through iTunes and different online retailers from China and South Korea, peaked at number eighty- eight on the Single Chart of South Korea Gaon. On March 9, the boy band released their second prologue single “History”. The single peaked at number sixty-eight on the Gaon Single Chart and number six on China’s Sina Music Chart. They released their debut single “Mama” on April 8, followed by an EP, Mama, on April 9.
6. 3000 fans attended Exo’s first showcase
A concert showcase for the group held at Seoul’s Olympic Stadium on March 31 occurred one hundred days after Exo members debuted their first trailer in the year 2011 on December 21. About 3,000 fans from 8,000 applicants were selected to attend the showcase. A second showcase took place in the Great Hall of the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing, China on April 1st.
7. There was a delay in Exo’s debut
Exo was to be launched in May in the year 2011, but there was a delay in their debut and news concerning the group did not surface until October 2011. Kai, Tao, Lu Han, and Chen, the first four members of Exo introduced, premiered their first public show at the SBS’s Gayo Daejun event in the year 2011 on December 29th. On April 8, Exo-K made their debut show on South Korea’s music program, The Music Trend, whereas Exo-M performed at China’s 12th Yinyue Fengyun Bang Awards that same day. One day after, the release of “Mama” hit number one on various Chinese online retailers and music charts.
8. Only one Exo-K member was auditioned correctly
Among all members of Exo-K, Kai is the only one who correctly went on an audition in the absence of casting. The rest of the Exo-K group members were found by a casting crew.
9. Exo members have a decision making formula
Every group has to agree to disagree and EXO is not an exception. Decision making is one of the key areas that group members had to agree on. To make the decision making process easier, Exo members settled on a game of rock, paper and scissors formula.
10. Exo members joined the band through teaser trailers
The twelve members of Exo were introduced individually through twenty-three different teaser trailers released from December 2011 to February 2012. Out of the 23 teasers of Exo, Kai is in 12 of them.
