What is Windows 7 Starter?
Windows 7 Starter is one edition of the Windows 7 operating system (OS) from Microsoft. Windows 7 has three primary editions which are better known than Windows 7, and these are Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Professional and Windows 7 Ultimate.
One of the main differences of Windows 7 Starter from the other editions is that it is meant to be used for Netbooks only. Windows 7 Starter is the edition that has the most basic features, and is only available in the 32 bit version. Many Netbooks comes pre installed with the OS, but some (installed with XP Home Edition) will need to be upgraded to it for a fee.
Microsoft markets Windows 7 Starter as the perfect OS of choice for people who want to do more, wait less and click less. This version is perfect for those who only do the basic internet surfing, email checking or document writing and those who do not need to run many applications simultaneously.
Windows 7 Starter does not have a number of features that its counterparts have like the Aero Glass, which means that users can only use the Windows Basic theme, and they cannot personalize the desktop. The OS also does not support DVD playback nor the Remote Media Streaming for multimedia content. Many people cannot live without these features, but many do not need these at all. If you are one of the people who can live without it, then Windows 7 is a suitable OS for you.
