What is MLIA?
MLIA is a website that stands for My Life Is Average. It is developed by Guru Khalsa and Enrico Mills, both UCLA students. The site features generic and everyday stories from people from all walks of life.

MLIA website came into being after another website FMyLife (F*ck My Life) featured story posts on every human experience that is considered bad or disgusting, or unacepptable. So the owners of MLIA wanted to make a website dedicated for basic everyday occurrences to tell people that being average is not such a bad idea. It’s like a parody of the other sites that feature some negativity on life’s not so beautiful moments.

MLIA is mainly a blogging site, where one simply posts about what happens in his/her daily life. It could be something funny and amusing, or it could just be a simple average story like being able to meet a neighbor one haven’t seen for years, or having gotten the chance to eat a favorite meal. Besides posting stories of “average” proportions”, one can also vote for their favorite average post. Posts that get really popular will be published on the website.

According to Wikipedia, the MLIA website already received about 2 million story submissions. And most submissions are by highschool and college students. The website obviously appealed to the younger crowd, as this particular market segment is what propelled social media sites to what it is today. Blogging and social networking sites such as MLIA have continued to increase in popularity today as more and more young people want to be expressive of their thoughts.

But not all agree that average stories deserve a website or even a place in human lives. Skeptics make fun of MLIA and many consider it very boring. The site even annoys some people that they create blog sites just to target and ridicule the stories on MLIA. But whether you’re a fan or not, MLIA continues to receive stories from people who simply want to share their average views on things.
