What Is MIDI?
You might have heard of the term MIDI before. Yet, you are only familiar of this term as a file that allows you to play different songs combining different musical instruments. However, if you are in the Delaware area, you might already be more familiar of the other MIDI, which is not in any way, related to the first MIDI mentioned.
This MIDI is actually a laboratory located in Delaware, USA which focuses on the identification of solutions against microbial related problems in clinical labs. To be exact, this is the MIDI Inc. it is a small- veteran owned business.

So far, MIDI has already made three different microbial identifications solutions. This includes the Sherlock Microbial Identification System, Sherlock Mycobacteria Identification System and the DNA Sequencing Software. All these three have already created a huge impact in clinical laboratories and have already been widely used.

The first one which is the Sherlock Microbial Identification System was patterned after the FAME technology that has been used for over 50 years now. This system can actually identify more than 1,500 bacteria and yeast species in as fast as 15 minutes. More than that, the total cost per standard extraction is only $3.
The second type has the ability to identify more than 25 species of mycobacteria and more than 35 species of non- mycobacteria. Its uses in different laboratories have definitely been a huge help to the people working on it.

As of now, MIDI continues to develop more and more ways in order to immediately identify microbes in different instances. Despite the fact that they have already produced 3 great systems, they are still in search for more ideas and ways in order to create more impact on the field that the work on. Rest assured, MIDI Inc. will strive harder to serve more people and cater to this ‘ignored’ need.
