What is J Micron JMB 36x?

J Micron Technology is a company which manufactures integrated circuits. J Micron is based in Taiwan. It also produces controller chips which are used by other companies. The purpose of JMB36x is to convert from PCI express standard to different type of standard, mainly to SATA and PATA standards.

JMB36X mainly consists of five different types of controllers. They are JMB360, JMB361, JMB362, JMB 363, and JMB368. JMB360 is a Host Controller to convert from PCI Express standard to x1 SATA II standard. JMB361 is a Host Controller to convert from PCI Express standard to x1 SATA II and x1 PATA standard. If you need to convert from PCI Express standard to x2 SATA II standard, you have to use JMB362 Host Controller. JMB363 can be used to convert from PCI Express to x2 SATA II and x1 PATA standard. PCI Express can be converted to x1 PATA standard using JMB368 controller.

JMB 360 goes in compliance with Serial ATA AHCI (Advanced Host Controller Interface), Bus Master Programming interface for IDE ATA Controllers, PCI Express Base, Serial ATA High Speed serialized AT Attachment, Serial ATA II Extensions to serial ATA, Gen2i and Gen 2m Serial ATA II.

JMB 368 is a single chip which provides PATA extension for chipsets which come without PATA.It also supports the IDE device. PCI Bus Express interface is also a feature. The maximum trace length of the PCI express is 12inches.
