GCDF or Global Career Development Facilitator refers to a profession or job that entails some career coaching or advice to people who are in different fields. For many people, being a GCDF is simply like a career coach because the main task of being one is to guide, train, and/or coaches other individuals who may need a clearer sense of direction in terms of their career in relation to their own hopes and personal goals in life. For people who are not so sure of what sort of educational background or experience they need for a dream job for example, they may seek out the services of a Global Career Development Facilitator. On the other side of things, those who are interested in leading other people into taking the steps towards career development and/or advancement, they may succeed as career coaches or being a certified GCDF.
In many countries around the world, many people may not need some kind of degree or certification in order to give out advises in terms of career choices and development. With knowledge and experience in various fields of education and work, some people may be equipped enough to guide younger people in terms of career-related choices. As more people needed career coaching services, the certification program for GCDF was eventually formed and in the US, such a program is administered by the CCE or the Center for Credentialing in Education. With a GCDF certification, a person is considered a certified worker in the field of either career advisory or the employment service industry.
In order to become GCDF certified, a person or candidate must undergo training of at least 120 hours in various fields or so-called core competencies. The training includes 12 identified core topics including those related to Labor Markets, Employability skills, Training for Peer and Clients, Supervision, Promotion, Public Relations, and Program Management among others. All these core competencies must be mastered with all topics tailored to the needs of a specific country where the certification is recognized and accepted.
