What is FNPLicensingService.exe?
FNPLicensingService.exe is a license utility that runs along with Adobe Acrobat 8. It serves as service authentication for 32-bit licenses for software like Adobe System’s Acrobat 8. This utility is provided by FlexNet Publisher hence the “FPN” in the name of the file.

As for Adobe Acrobat 8, this utility is required by the software for it to run smoothly and properly. This is the reason why most users are advised not to disable this process when using programs or applications that connect to Adobe programs. It is also said that when this particular utility or processed is disabled or stopped by the user, then Adobe will just restore it back because it needs this process for proper functioning. But some people get annoyed by the FNPLicensingService.exe process since it automatically runs upon computer startup. Along with installation of Adobe applications, this utility is also installed on a person’s computer. During startup, users won’t actually have much choice but to let this program run because they won’t actually be able to completely stop it. Stopping the process will only be temporary as Adobe will restore the running of this application without giving any notification to the user. Some people also try to rename the files and folders associated with this licensing authentication utility, but in this case Adobe will also be able to restore the necessary files to make the utility run. This is done by Adobe Acrobat because it cannot run without this utility. It is a required component of the Acrobat application and so the main program will restore its function if disabled. To have this licensing authentication service re-configured, users may have the option to make it run manually rather than automatically upon start up. But if users suspect this utility as some form of virus, complete removal is advised.
