21 ships had either been sunk or damaged
It is widely known the fact that on the morning of December 7, 1941, the Japanese launched a surprise air attack on the U.S. Naval Base at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. It is important to know that 21 ships had either been sunk or damaged. More than 2400 Americans were dead. Keep in mind that there were eight U.S. battleships at Pearl Harbor, seven of which were lined up at what was called Battleship Row. Needless to say, one was in dry dock for repairs.
