The upper house of the 111th United States Congress currently has 41 Republican senators that form the Senate Republican Conference. The latest addition to this number is Massachusetts senator Scott Brown, who was elected on January 9, 2010. He replaced the seat vacated by the death of Democrat Ted Kennedy.
