How many orcas in captivity are there?

Orcas became popular attractions at public aquariums and aquatic theme parks due to their intelligence, trainability, striking appearance, playfulness in captivity and sheer size.  Statistics show that on June 2013, 45 orcas were held captive at facilities in North and South America, Europe and Asia, providing entertainment for theme park visitors.  Imagine that at least 136 orcas have been taken into captivity from the wild since 1961. 123 of these, meaning 90.4% orcas are now dead.  Not too many people know that the median survival time in captivity of these orcas was approx 4 years.
