The World Nuclear Association reports on its website that, by early July 2010, there was a total of 439 nuclear power plants in operation world-wide. Furthermore, 59 nuclear power plants are being built, and 149 more have been planned. The US is the country with the highest number of nuclear power plants, followed by France, Japan and Russia.
