The NCAA Student-Athlete Ethnicity Report, published in February 2010, mentions there are 420,000 NCAA student-athletes – all three divisions combined – and 1,000 member institutions. The vast majority of these athletes are white/non-Hispanic (71.4% of men and 77.8% of women), followed by African-Americans (18.4% of men and 11.4% of women).
