How many feet are there in a yard?

3.

One yard is equivalent to 3 feet. The British Weights and Measures Act of 1855 was the first to define the standard yard to be equal to the length of a seconds pendulum, or 39.1392 inches. Almost a century later in July 1959, the yard was formally declared by the United States as well as the Commonwealth of Nations to be equal to 36 inches, or 3 feet.
