It is important to know that capital punishment (also called the death penalty) in the United States is limited under the Eighth Amendment to the United States Constitution.  Not too many people know that the capital punishment is currently a legal sentence in 32 states and in the federal civilian and military legal systems.  There were 43 executions in 2012 in the United States of America and 3,146 cases on death row.  It is interesting to know that the most common execution method since 1976 has been lethal injection.
