How many benefit claimants are there?
5.5 million in the UK
When it comes to the number of benefit claimants, statistics do not look too good. More than 5.5 million people claim benefits in the UK. Keep in mind that more than 370,000 migrants who were admitted to Britain to work, study or go on holiday are claiming benefits. Moreover, the interesting part is that 258,000 people are from outside the European Economic Area. Authorities consider that 2 per cent of them are suspected of making fraudulent claims.
