How many accidents are caused by texting in the U.S.?

Every year, at least 200,000 people experience accidents caused by texting while behind the wheel. This is according to a report released by the U.S. National Safety Council in January 2010. A study published by David Strayer of the University of Utah also found that collision risk when driving is 23 times greater than when not texting.
