The Amur Leopard is the rarest, yet relatively unknown, big cat in the world. It belongs to Russia and only about 35 leopards thrive in the wilderness currently. According to the Zoological Society of London (ZSL), there are nearly 200 Amur leopards in captivity. Most of them are in European and North American zoos. Amur leopards that live in the wild can survive for up to 12 years while those in captivity may live for 20 or more years.
