A man met with the same nature of accident twice in the same day, a baby was twice saved from falling down the window by the same stranger, brothers lost their life in a road accident, at two different places, within a gap of two hours’¦ these are nothing but examples of coincidences. Our life is full of coincidences, however, most of us overlook them for considering them frivolous and unimportant. Believe it not, our history is a witness to numerous astounding coincidences, which have left even the scientists and propellers of rationality, sifting pages for an explanation.

 

Here is a list of ten most famous coincidences that have left its witnesses dumb struck.

1. Mark Twain’s birth and death

Mark Twain, a renowned American author and a celebrated humorist left the world astound when it learnt about its date of birth and death. Believe it or not, this famous author was born on the very day when the Halley’s Comet became visible in the year 1835. The comet is the most sought after, as it reaches the vicinity of the earth only once in 75 years. That means that it is possible for every human to view this astronomical figure only once or twice in his entire course of life. What’s more interesting is his death date, which happens to be the very next day of the appearance of the comet in the following year.

2. Death of King Umberto I

This is the strangest coincidence ever scribbled in the pages of European history. The popular ruler of Italy, King Umberto I was dining in a restaurant which was coincidentally owned by a person with looks identifying the great king. Moreover, the man’s wife was also named similar to the name of the King’s wife. The nature of the owner’s death was also similar to the nature of the King’s death. Both were shot dead by an unknown figure.

3. Death date of America’s founders

John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, the two men attributed with the credit of founding America happen to share the same death date. Jefferson, on one hand scripted the framework of the Declaration of Independence, Adams further edited the document. The document was later in the year 1776 approved by the Continental Congress. The world was alarmed to note the date of their death, July 4, 1826.

4. Death of Twins

The death of the Finland based twins made the headlines in the newspapers of 2002, when they both succumbed to death, of same nature, on the same road, within a gap of few hours only. One of the brothers died when his bike was terribly hit by a huge lorry in a city called Raahe, around 600 km away from Helsinki. Whereas, the other brother died on the same road, around 1.5 km away from the death spot of the first brother. What a coincidence!

5. Edgar Allen Poe Coincidence

The much celebrated horror writer never thought that the hypothetical situation on which he is laying the foundation of his book, Aventuras de Arthur Gordon Pym, would take a real shape years after the book witnessed the light of the day. The situation that he penned was about four survivors of a wrecked ship who finally decided to kill and eat the poor cabin boy, named Richard Parker, to satiate their hunger pangs. Years later, a yawl by the name Mignonette was wrecked by a storm and was left with three survivors who killed and ate the cabin boy, named Richard Parker, to satisfy their hunger.

6. The falling baby

In the year 1930, an ordinary man named Joseph Figlock became a hero of the locals by saving the life of an infant baby who accidently fell from a window panel located at a great height. Both the baby and the man were left unharmed by this unfortunate accident. Around a year later, Figlock again repeated the big daddy act by saving the same baby again who fell from the same window panel.

7. Childhood book found after years

Anne Parish, an American novelist witnessed the biggest and most delightful coincidences of her life when she found her much cherished book which she fondly read in her childhood days, Jack Frost and Other stories. She eyed upon this book years later when she was casually shuffling through the various books placed in a bookstore in Paris.

8. Anthony Hopkins found a book after years of search

Anthony, a famous American actor made a guest appearance in the movie The Girl from Petrovka, based on a celebrated novel by George Feifer. After the movie, the actor went on a search spree for the book in the entire London, which ended without yielding any result. Much to his surprise, he found a copy of the novel, attested by Feifer himself in a train station in London. It is believed that the copy was lend to a friend by Feifer, which was later reportedly stolen from his car.

9. Twin brothers

Twin brothers separated right after birth were adopted by different parents belonging to different cultural affinities and yet named James.  Both the boys grew up to develop similar motor skills and interest in carpentry and mechanical drawing. What’s more’¦ each of them got married to two different women with the name Linda. That’s not all’¦ both had sons, one was named James Alan whereas the other was named, James Allan.

10. The Killer Taxi

This may sound like a movie story, but such is the coincidence. In the year 1975, a man driving moped on the roads of Bermuda, collided with a taxi which took his life. A year later, the victim’s brother too lost his life the same way. He too was driving his moped, got stuck with the same taxi and succumbed to death on that very road. Further, it was believed that the taxi driven in both the two accident cases was the same man.

 

These were some of the weirdest coincidences ever witnessed in the course of humanity. Though many have been left unreported, the ones that have been brought forth are indeed surprising.
