Ten Famous Animals Who Died In Tragic Freak Accidents

Many animals succumb to accidents and diseases and pass away, without bearing any significant change in our life. The condition of stray and uncared animals is deplorable, especially, when they are ill-treated and manhandled by the passers-by. However, there are animals who lost their life in the most freaky ways, one can possibly imagine. No one, but ‘us’-the humans, are to be blamed for their miserable deaths. Here is a list of ten animals who died pathetic death by succumbing to the most traumatic accidents ever.

 

1. Quan Quan, the panda who died the most unfortunate death by inhaling chemicals

Quan Quan, the Panda, one of the most adored animals for its natural warmth for humans, left its caretakers in a state of utter shock when it died the most stifling death by inhaling the chemicals leaked into its enclosure from a nearby ventilation system, in the zoo. This rare species was reared in the Jinan zoo in China.

2. 70,000 chickens died due to inhabitable environment

Chickens reared in a poultry farm are well fed and given a habitable environment, until they grow plump and ready to eat. Such is their fate. To keep them thriving, it is important to provide a cool environment and continuous food to binge on. However, Joshua Shelton, the owner of three chicken houses, accidently shut off the power system of his farms which led to the fatal loss of around 70,000 chickens in one night.

3. Macaque, a monkey ‘boiled’ to death

Pharmaceutical companies are known to experiment the efficacy of a new drug on monkeys, before releasing them in the market. Bristol-Myers Squibb, a pharmaceutical company released all the monkeys from the cages in its lab to clean them up. However, unfortunately, they forgot to release Macaque and carried forward their cleaning process. The cage rose to the boiling temperature and the unlucky monkey was literally boiled to death.

4. Blue, the service pig shot to death

The Sickles, a family residing in Virginia, bought a pig to serve them with their daily chores. Least did they know that their unusual choice for a pet would land up taking its life. Their neighbors mistook the trained pig for a wild boar and phoned the police so as to get rid of him. A deputy, unknowingly shot the pig with a bow and arrow and ended its service life. The family seemed very upset at the loss of their pet pig, who was a good helper to the family in their domestic chores.

5. 68 cows killed by lightening

Warwick, an Australia based Cattle rancher had got habitual of losing his cows. In yet another devastating accident, he lost around 68 cows when a deadly lightening storm struck his farm. While 68 cows lost their lives on that moment, three succumbed to paralysis. What’s unfortunate is that around five years back, he had lost around eleven cows in an accident of similar nature.

6. A Bison on display, starved to death

William S. Hart Park, located in Newhall, California was home to around 11 mature bison, kept for the display of the visitors. As per the park owners, the animals were fed timely, keeping in mind their needs and reared in the right environment. However, the unprecedented death of one of the bison, left the entire park authorities shocked. One of the bison had escaped from its captivity and found dead in another carol. The investigations later revealed that it had probably escaped from its carol and died because of starvation.

7. A Tiger cub, trapped and killed

The unlucky cub found itself trapped and finally lost its life in the trap laid down by some men who came to the Sumatra island for hunting a rare species of wood. In the midst, they realized that their stay in the island would be prolonged, so they laid special traps for preying upon the antelope and deer. Unfortunately, the trap that was laid for catching other animals, caught the cub which succumbed to its death. The death was witnessed by five Sumatran tigers which took their revenge by captivating the hunters and killing one of them.

8. Methuselina, a sheep who died at an incredibly long age of 25 years and 11 months

This black faced sheep died after an old age, an event considered a rarity among these species, and could have lived even longer, had there been no unfortunate accident in the month of February, 2012, which took its life. It was assumed that she fell accidently down from a high cliff and stumbled against a stone, which took its life. Nevertheless, she still made it to the Guinness World Records for being the only sheep to have lived for so long.

9. Yak, reduced to bones by a hungry tiger

Yaks, one of the most expensive animals in a zoo, are met with amicable behavior and timely care. It so happened that the Yak was terrorized by a group of male Yaks, who had the intent to mate with her. In a rescue spree, she accidently slipped in the tiger’s pit. The rest, as known to the world, is history. She was smitten and reduced to a few countable bones and flesh pieces.

10. Seven horses died of electric shock

Seven racetrack horses, four of them being, Kid Cassidy, Merry Giant, Marching Song and Fenix, started their premiere race in the Newbury racetrack in 2011, never to race again. The horses looked extremely fatigued and traumatized to begin the race and only a few managed to finish it. Investigations reveal that an electric cable placed under their paddock sent ripples of electric shock to their body. The sensitive horses could not bear the intensity of the shock and hence lost their life, making their death as one of the most traumatic deaths met to an animal.

Humanity has always been criticized of manhandling and exploiting animals to meet their needs. However, the above death cases of the animals reveal the most atrocious treatment of humans met to them.
