While there are many basic things you know about Steve Jobs and associate Apple with him, there are many other interesting facts about his life that are lesser known to people. Steve Jobs has been one of the most successful men in the past few decades having been the mastermind behind all the wonderful Apple Mac products.

Some interesting facts about Steve Jobs are:

Steve grew up as an adopted child to parents Paul and Clara Jobs. His biological mother wished for him to have parents with a graduation degree but they promised her that Steve would go to college when he grows up.

His biological father was from Syria which makes Steve Jobs half-Arab.

As a child Steve Jobs was dyslexic. Despite his condition, he has had over 300 patents in his lifetime.

Although Steve Jobs did join a college, he dropped out after 18 months in order to save his parents’ money. During his time in college, he slept on floors at friends’ places and went to the Hare Krishna temple 7 miles across town by foot to get meals every week.

Steve Jobs initial dream was to become a Buddhist monk; this had occurred right after his visit to India with one of his close friends from Reed College. He even had his head shaved for it.

Jobs was offered an internship in his 8th grade by Hewlett Packard when he had called the co-owner William Hewlett asking about a missing part in the assembling of a frequency counter.

Having gone through severe hardships to survive, he has worked at Atari for a wage. Due to his poor hygiene he had been put in the night shift. He is also said to have walked around the office in bare feet.

Steve Jobs’ signature look was that of a black turtleneck, sneakers and blue denims. He also owned about more than a 100 pairs of Levi Jeans.

Steve joined Apple in 2003 as CEO after he was lured by John Sculley from Pepsi-Cola, the same man who had fired him in 2005.

The car that Jobs drove never had a license plate. He changed his car replacing with an identical new model every 6 months to keep in compliance with the laws in California and at the same time he did not have to keep a license plate.

When Steve Jobs bought Pixar in 2006, he became the world’s largest shareholder of Disney.

Steve Jobs had been a desired CEO by the founders of Google.

Jobs resigned in 2011 as the CEO, although he remained as chairman of the company board. Share prices is reportedly said to have dropped 5 % after the news of his resignation went public.

He died in the same year due to complications caused by Pancreatic Cancer. Apple and Microsoft were reported to have their flags at half-staff at their headquarters post the news of his death. Even Disney properties across US had their flags at half-staff from October 6th- 12th, 2011.

Steve Jobs is often referred to as the driving force behind the company of Apple and he has been an example and source of inspiration for many.
