If you are an American and soccer keeps you up till late at night, it is almost impossible that you have not heard the name of Ahmad Bradshaw. One of the best running backs in American Football right now, Bradshaw had been a prized possession for the NFL team the New York Giants for 5 years, when he was drafted into the team in the seventh round of the NFL draft back in 2007. He currently plays for the Indianapolis Colts and is one of the most expensive and sought after players in the NFL.
Most of the NFL-buffs are quite well acquainted with this star football player. But for those who are not that much familiar with Ahmad Bradshaw, here are some interesting facts about the player:
Bradshaw is a two-time Super Bowl champion. He won the Super Bowls XLII and XLVI. Both came during his time with the New York Giants.
In each of those occasions, Ahmad Bradshaw was the leading rusher. This actually secured his entry into an elite club. He became one of only eight running backs in the history of NFL to be the leading rusher in two different Super Bowls! No small feat by any means!
During school life, Bradshaw used to play high school football for Graham High school, Virginia. Rivals.com, a sports network, ranked him 7th in the list of the most promising players in Virginia. He was also named VHSL AA Player of the Year.
Bradshaw played amateur football for Marshall University. During the junior years for Marshall University in 2006, Bradshaw rushed 261 yards in a match against University of Texas at El Paso, which remained his career best during amateur years.
Bradshaw’s 88 yard run and subsequent touchdown in a game for the New York Giants versus the Buffalo Bills, remains the longest run of the 2007 season. It was also the third longest run in the history of New York Giants.
Bradshaw gained 45 yards against the New England Patriots during their match in the Super Bowl XLII. This remains the highest by any running back in the history of the NFL.
In the seasons of 2010 and 2012, Bradshaw had 1000+ rushing yards to his credit.
All in all, Ahmad Bradshaw has 32 rushing touch downs in NFL to his credit till now.
Ahmad Bradshaw has had his legal troubles as well. During his junior years at Marshall University, he was arrested and charged with petty larceny for which he was handed a 60 day remand in Abingdon Regional Jail.
Bradshaw’s best season was arguably in 2011 when he completed 9 touchdowns, the highest for him in any season. He was also a regular player for the New York Giants at that time.
With Bradshaw exceeding public expectations, it will be interesting to see if the New York Giants draft him back from the Colts. He is one of the finest running backs in the country right now and it would be wise to utilize his current form.
