The Obama Healthcare Plan is advocated by Barack Obama. The legal name for the plan is the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Â The main intentions of the healthcare plan are to facilitate healthcare and make it more affordable and available for all Americans. Those who oppose the health plan believe it takes away the options to choose and have named it ‘œObamacare.’
Fact 1. The plan allows the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) to approve more of the generic medical drugs in the market. This plan has already been enacted.
Fact 2. Â An increase in rebates for drugs obtained through Medicare is included in the plan.
Fact 3. Â Insurance companies are discouraged from discriminating against those with pre-existing disabilities.
Fact 4. Â Indoor tanning booths have been imposed with a 10 percent tax due to the adverse effects of tanning on the skin. However, there are those who are of the opinion this is an infringement on freedoms.
Fact 5. Â Children are allowed to be included and covered by their parents’ insurance until the age of 26.
Fact 6. The healthcare plan protects consumer rights as insurance companies are not allowed to drop customers once they become sick.
Fact 7. On January 1st, 2013, those who earn more than 200,000 per annum will have an increase of 0.9% in taxes to provide for the healthcare plan.
Fact 8. Â On January 1st, 2014, all Americans will be charged the same amount regardless of pre-history conditions.
Fact 9. On January 1st, 2014, an insurance policy is mandated for all those who can afford to purchase an insurance policy. This was a policy, which was ruled by the Supreme Court on June 28th, 2012, as constitutional.
Fact 10. It is mandatory for businesses with 50 or more full-time employees to provide insurance for their employees at the expense of a penalty.
