‘œAIDS’ stands for ‘œAcquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome’ which means every person who would not take care of his health may have the possibility of acquiring this illness. It is called a disease because it means that the body will feel weak when the time comes that the antibodies are not doing their work anymore to protect the body. Lastly, it is called a syndrome because it means that there are several kinds of health problems being brought up and that may be the cause of AIDS.

Fact 1: The possibility to acquire AIDS is not through saliva or tears but with having oral sex or standard sexual intercourse. When a person is having oral sex with an infected person, if their gums are bleeding the virus can easily enter the body.

Fact 2: A brain tumor is one of the most serious symptoms that a person will experience once he/she has acquired AIDS.

Fact 3: World AIDS Day is celebrated all throughout the world during the 1st day of December every year.

Fact 4: Research has been done, and it was being announced that for every minute, there would be 11 people who would become infected with the AIDS virus called HIV.

Fact 5: At the present time, 28.1 million Africans are living with the virus.

Fact 6: In the whole world today, an approximate number of people having AIDS is 42 million.

Fact 7: AIDS, though it has been in the news several years ago, is still one of the most feared diseases and is still an important issue in society for many people.

Fact 8: During the year 2007, an estimated number of people infected with the AIDS virus was 33.2 million people.

Fact 9: With an estimation of 2.1 million, it is believed that is the number of people being killed by the AIDS virus annually.

Fact 10: Zoonosis is known to be the transfer of the AIDS virus from an animal to a human being.
