The state of West Virginia offers five fantastic and exuberant golf courses. These are namely South Charleston: West Virginia- Pipestem, Canaan, Cacapon, Stonewall and Twin Falls. Several local players are contended with these sites of the West Virginia State Park Golf. These golf courses have served tourists also for many years. Among the 5 courses, Canaan, Pipestem and the Twin Falls were architected by Geoffrey Cornish. On the other hand Robert Trent Jones Sr. laid out the one at Cacapon and Arnold Palmer did the one of Stonewall. The maestro of George Cobb is reflected in the back nine shows of the Twin Falls.

Cobb had designed many other nationally distinguished golf courses. The original golf course of the private Glade Spring Resort, in the outskirts of Beckley was laid by him. He has also designed the well-known Par 3 course at Augusta, Georgia.

Unfortunately Jones had passed away in the year 2000, Cobb in the year 1986 and the most recent loss being that of Geoffrey Cornish in February 2012. Before their demise they had handed over the lands of the golf courses to the state government and the state park managers are taking good care of the courses.

West Virginia University will enlist 18 sports by the beginning of the academic session 2015-2016 with the re-introduction of the most exciting men’s sport- golf.
The Canaan Valley Resort State Park is a lush of open course at an elevation of 4000 ft from the plains. Major portion of the valley is surrounded by water bodies.

The Twin Falls’ golf course in West Virginia is a unique course located in a narrow valley bounded on one side by a small brook. Recently a 27-guest room Cardinal wing had been opened near Pineville. This is featured with a fitness room and an indoor pool as well.

The Cacapon Resort State Park is facing some drainage issues in recent days due to the depletion of the actual drainage system. An astronomical amount of $1.5 million will be used to repair and replace the drainage system and bank erosion along wetlands within the course.

The 48- guest room of Cacapon Lodge will be somehow renovated and an additional wing with 78 rooms will be added that would also feature outdoor/indoor pool along with a spa. The WVGA members are likely to be pampered by this package.

Seasonal plants are mostly seen in the Pipestem Resort State Park and it makes the course look more vibrant and colourful. This course offers abundant wild life and great natural scenario as well. This vast stretch of greenery sees changes more subtle and basically enhances the aesthetic beauty of this 18-hole course.
