Las Vegas is one of the world renowned cities for its lavish and highly notorious lifestyle. In fact, it is one of the top party destination and gambling hub for tourists and rich people. But how much do you really know about Las Vegas? Have you also known that there’s a book legally banning gambling and casinos? Well, below are the top 10 mind-blowing facts about Las Vegas that you surely want to know.

Fact #1: Las Vegas is also known as the Sin City for its wide array and tempting displays of adult attractions and party houses. Your Las Vegas tour would not be complete without trying their casinos, cozy hotels, and huge party clubs. It’s definitely the one-of-a-kind place where you can get wild and gamble, and never receive any sermon from a priest.

Fact #2: “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.” It’s already an old notion but prostitution in Las Vegas is not legal. Although Nevada is known to be the only place where prostitution is legal, the law only applies to counties with less than 400, 000 population.  That is because when the law was enacted only Clark Country had more than 400, 0000 and Las Vegas wanted its sex workers out of the place. Today Reno had also prohibited prostitution.

Fact #3: Las Vegas, Nevada is home to a secret military facility known as Area 51. According to CIA, the place is used to test prototypes for top-secret surveillance aircrafts due to the presence of 737 unmarked airplanes. Until, nobody can really tell what the place is up to.

Fact #4: Las Vegas has its own black list. It’s called a Black Book where names of “notorious or unsavory reputation” individuals are placed. You should not be happy if you find your name in the black book, because it means that you are one of the many people who are not allowed to enter Vegas. Worst, there could be already a dollar on top of your head.

Fact #5: Las Vegas is an atomic bomb test site of Nevada. Just about 65 miles of north of Las Vegas, some nuclear tests were conducted over 100 above the ground. The activity was blamed to be the cause of the 11, 000 recorded deaths out of cancer. Ironically, between 1952 and 1962, the atomic nuclear test became a famous in concept for hotels and casinos. Women would wear cloud-like costumes in representation of the smoke coming from nuclear blows, which actually became a tourist attraction.

Fact #6: You can get married in Las Vegas, anytime, anywhere! Las Vegas is highly known for its almost-real marriage booth where thousands of lover and strangers get married in a year. Marriage license for official marriages cost $60 and an extra $5 is charge for payments via credit cards. Many people also like to get married in Las Vegas because it is the only place in the state where blood test and waiting period is not required.

Fact #7: The favorite color ink daubers of Vegas Bingo players is PURPLE! For purple-holics, you can now say “cheese” and let out a boisterous laugh or at least you know where to go in Vegas.

Fact #8: Las Vegas is known as Hawaii’s 9th island because of its population which is mostly composed of Hawaiian community. If you have noticed, many people in Vegas have obvious Hawaiian culture and tradition.

Fact #9: The Stratosphere is Las Vegas’ tallest freestanding observation tower with 1, 149 feet in height.  However, if you are looking for something heavy, you should see the Bronze Lion outside the MGM Grand Hotel. It weighs 50 tons of bronze which makes the largest and heaviest bronze sculpture in the country.

Fact #10: Everyone known Las Vegas is very popular for its strippers, and yes they are very true! However, the most number of strippers are not really found in Vegas. Majority of them are located in Clack Country.  So if you want to go out with a family and enjoy a good time together, Las Vegas would not a great option for you.
