Early days in life:

Hollywood has seen many multi-talented personalities out of which Jennifer Lopez is one shining star. Jennifer Lynn Lopez also known as J.Lo is an American actress, author, fashion designer, dancer, producer as well as a singer. She was born on July 24, 1969 in New York to Guadalupe Rodriguez and David Lopez. She was the middle of three sisters and had a very modest upbringing. David Lopez used to work in an insurance company who used to encourage his daughters to learn singing and dancing as well as to learn to speak the English language.

How she landed her first role:

She completed her academics successfully, had a stint with gymnastics and was a national level athlete as well. This was the first glimpse of her multi-talented personality which still serves her in her film career. She even had her first crush at that age with David Cruz. In fact she had an accidental entry into the world of films. While in her last year of academics at school, she heard of a film casting on the lookout for teenage girls for small roles. She auditioned for the role and bagged as small role in the film “My Little Girl” in 1986.

She was made for Hollywood:

This tryst with Hollywood ignited the spark in her and she decided that this is the place for her in life. As usual she faced stiff resistance from her family but again as is the case in many households she prevailed but at the cost of moving out of her family home into an apartment in Manhattan. She landed small roles and also performed as one of the chorus girls in a musical company which took her on tours of Europe. She was a person who loved to take center stage and hence quit this job too.

On the road to becoming the highest paid actress:

After a series of small roles in some television serials, she landed her first feature film Mi Familia in 1995 followed by roles in films like “Money Train” and “Jack”. Her first big break came in 1997 when she nagged the title role in the film “Selena” a biopic on the pop singer Selena Quintillana Perez. This film earned her a Golden Globe nomination and established her as the highest paid actress with a paycheck of $ 1 million.

Her main passion-Singing:

She acted in some inconsequential movies such as “Anaconda” and “Blood and Wine” before starring in Steven Soderbergh’s “Out of Sight”. She had a great passion for singing and she released her first album “On the 6” in June 1999. This was soon followed by “If You Had My Love” with both the albums becoming super hits.

Her experience as a dancer:

Her love for dancing enabled her to be nominated for the Best Dance Performance Award for her hit “Waiting for Tonigh” but she lost out to veteran dancer Cher. This was followed by a successful stint as a singer, dancer as well as an actor.

Her personal life and relationships:

She had a tumultuous personal life. She married an aspiring model and actor Ojani Noa in 1997. This marriage did not last long. Before long she was involved in a publicized relationship with rapper Sean “Puffy” Combs. After an involvement with a shooting incident outside a nightclub in New York, she parted ways with Combs.

Cris Judd, a dancer, came into her life to fill in the void left by Seam Combs. They got married in 2001. Immediately, soon she started dating actor Ben Affleck in 2002 and even announced their engagement. She broke up with him in 2004 and married singer Marc Anthony in 2004 in a private ceremony at her mansion.

She returned to the big stage along with her husband and released her first Spanish language album in 2007. In 2008 she gave birth to twins. 2010 saw her enter the reality TV scenario with her role of a judge in the tenth season of “American Idol”. She broke up with Marc Anthony soon after and started to concentrate on her music career.
