What Is Relative Location?
When you are a geography expert or a travel buff, you might be very familiar of the term relative location. However, for those who are not yet familiar of the term, or are even confused with the term relative location and absolute location, read on and find out more about it.

First of all, when you say relative location, it refers to the identification of a particular location in relation to another. Say for instance you would want to know where Mall A is. Since you are not given the exact location, you will only be given its relative location. In this case, it can be said that Mall A is in the west of Mall B. The Mall B is the location to which the place that you look for is relative to. Another example would be the location of Market C. When you are given its relative location, people could possibly say that it is in between School B and Church M.

The use of relative location is more often when you are searching for a place which is not that familiar. You are given a more famous spot and you are to look for the actual place that you look for in relation to that spot as your reference point. It will be easier for you to look for the actual place with the help of the relative location.

On the other hand, absolute location would mean its actual location in terms of degree longitude and latitude. If you have a map or a locator, it will be a lot easier for you to find a place using its absolute location. Now that you know what absolute and relative location is, for sure, you will no longer be lost the next time around. Just make sure that you totally understand these concepts before asking for it on the streets.
