The LRF format is used by Sony for their e- readers products. Up to now, there were efforts to research more on this type of file, but it has remained to be documented clearly. Speaking of efforts, there were already a lot of enthusiasts as well as experts who delved into the format and make utilities that can be used for LRF conversion the moment it appeared in Sony’s products.

This program decompiles the files from LRF to the objects. This includes TOC, compressed streams and header. We also have the LRFunpack. It also allows the decompiling of the files in order to understand it more. In 2004, there was a way in order to understand this file and it was developed by Canon. This is the Book Creator Commercial program. It really created a big impact in understanding the file.

Through the years, several attempts were made in order to further analyze this file and its practical applications. Yet, despite these attempts, there are still a lot of ideas that are yet to unfold. Thus, this has remained under further studies.
