LPG

LPG is the short version of Liquefied Petroleum Gas. LPG is an altered chemical compound of natural gas though LPG and natural gas are both hydrocarbons. LPG is made up of propane, which has 8 hydrogen atoms and 3 carbon atoms, and butane, which has 10 hydrogen atoms and 4 carbon atoms. When a comparison is made between methane and the two gases in LPG gas, methane appears to be a gas that is much lighter than the other two. LPG is a low carbon, clean and innovative source of energy that offers numerous benefits to consumers, environment and industry. Due to its global and immediate availability, diverse uses, transportation versatility and origin, LPG plays an important role in transiting to a more sustainable, competitive and secure model of energy. Among its core strengths is versatility as it can be used in more than 1000 ways. Such used include heating homes and generating cooking flame, preparing barbecues, fueling cars, forklifting trucks, industrial heating, and farming.

Important Elements of LPG

LPG is kept under basic pressure in liquid state though it is a gas under ordinary atmospheric situations. This state enables easy transportation and storage of the gas in a concentrated state in order to provide a high energy fuel source. LPG has a high heating potential and does not contain sulphur hence it is a clean source of energy. Its quality is also consistent making it a reliable energy source especially for use in gas engines and in specially made applications such as burners and forklifts. LPG is generated as oil processing is in progress as well during the process of extracting of natural gas. LPG is a cost effective and alternative source of energy for businesses or homes that are not yet connected to underground natural gas networks due to its easy of storage and transportation.
