The interesting thing about this vaccine is that it is prepared from the same bacterium that tends to cause the above mentioned diseases, but it does not harm the user of the vaccine rather it helps to protect the patient against diphtheria, tetanus and Pertusis. When this vaccine is injected into the patient’s body, it actually becomes capable of fighting against the bacteria that cause these diseases. A complete course of this vaccine is compulsory in many states for the children in order to start their preschool or Montessori. The course of this vaccine consists of 5 doses in different ages. The very first dose is given when the child is 2 months of age. The process again takes place at the age of 4 months, 8 months, 18 months and 4 to 6 years. Beside its positive effects, it is forbidden for the patients having problems with their nervous system, as suggested by the concerned health care provider. Usage of this vaccine also produces some side effects which may include irritation, fever or pain on the injection site. Sometimes it may cause swelling as well. No doubt that introduction of these vaccines has solved many problems but it is always advisable to consult your doctor before using such vaccines because it might have a negative effect if used without any proper prescription.
