Chromecast

Chromecast is a device from Google that allows online streaming of videos and other digital media to a smart or HD (high definition) TV.  It is connected to the HDMI port of TVs and can be used for online streaming of videos like those that are found on popular sites such as Netflix and YouTube.  Users of this device just need to have a WiFi connection or local network to make it work.  Once connected online, Chromecast will deliver or stream the videos from the online site to the television set.

The best thing about Chromecast is that it is sold cheap and only takes up little space on the TV.  For television sets that have HDMI ports located in hard-to-reach areas, it also comes with an adaptor cable.  Power to the device is through a mini-USB connector that can be plugged to an electrical outlet.  With its relatively small size and hassle-free setup and installation, Chromecast can make online movie or video-watching simple and fun.  Instead of having to watch videos over the small and limited screens of mobile phones and computer tablets, one may simply use Chromecast to take advantage of the huge television screens which may be available.

Playing of videos through Chromecast may be done using apps that are downloadable on mobile phones and devices that are installed with iOS or Android platforms.  Through these Web apps, users can choose to play the videos they want from various online channels.  When a video is chosen, Chromecast will stream it to the television screen via the local connection or WiFi network.  Another way of streaming videos onto the television is through a process called “tab casting”.  This process creates a mirror display of what is displayed by Google Chrome on a computer or mobile device.  The only other requirement is that users of Chromecast must also be subscribers of their favorite online movie sites in order to stream the movies or videos they want on their television screens.
