What does HVAC stand for?
HVAC stands for Heating, Ventilation, and Air-Conditioning. It is a system designed to provide comfort for the interiors of a building or a vehicle. As a sub-part of mechanical engineering, HVAC technology relies on the principles of heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics. This type of technology is said to benefit large-scale type of buildings where safe and fresh air is desired for a healthier living.

HVAC basically works to ensure that air flow in a particular space is safe and clean, through regulation of humidity and temperature. The overall goal is to maintain a healthy environment in any given space or building. Many companies would want to make sure that employees and other people have a decent working environment wherein everybody can perform their tasks without having to deal with hindrances to healthy working conditions.

The first component of the system is Heating. This part is involved with maintaining the appropriate temperature for a particular space. The heating component of the system should be able to adjust according to the weather conditions outside of the particular place. The next component is Ventilation. This is necessary to allow the normal cycle of exchange between the oxygen we breathe in and the carbon dioxide we breathe out. It is also essential that a space is well ventilated to prevent air from being stagnant which may lead to many airborne diseases. Air-conditioning is the third component and should be installed in such a way that its air and temperature regulation action is connected to the ventilation and heating systems. If all three systems are built to work together, companies will be able to maximize the benefits of each system resulting to better air flow and temperature in the working environment.

Aside from typical office spaces and buildings, HVAC technology may also be applied at home or in vehicles.
