What are Aptitude Tests?
Aptitude tests are used as measures for a person’s intelligence it terms of logic, reasoning, thinking, and comprehension. Usually these types of tests are administered in a classroom setup and have a set of time limits for different sections.

Most aptitude tests may in the form of a speed test or power test. Speed aptitude tests involve multiple questions that a test-taker must answer in the shortest time possible. Power aptitude tests meanwhile involve questions that require more time for thinking and comprehension.

Aptitude test questions may be grouped into different categories. One such category is Verbal Reasoning. In this part of the test, questions on grammar, spelling, punctuations, and understanding concepts are asked. Numeric Ability meanwhile pertains to questions on arithmetic and basic mathematics. Both the verbal and numeric ability questions are generic of any aptitude test as these could help determine basic abilities in communication and dealing with numbers. Other sections or categories may include Abstract Reasoning. This is the part where a person’s ability to understand logic of a pattern is measured. This section is said to be important as good scores may indicate that the person is able to do quick tasks and decision-making. Various other categories may be added up to the general aptitude test questions depending on particular needs. Some of these categories are Spatial Ability tests, Data Checking questions, Fault Diagnosis, and Mechanical Reasoning.

Aptitude tests are commonly used in schools and in the corporate world. Schools usually have pre-admission requirements to select the best and the brightest among numerous student applicants. In the corporate setup, aptitude tests are widely used in hiring people from different academic backgrounds to properly and efficiently fill up vacant positions. These tests are also administered as a means of selecting employees for possible promotion and/or re-alignment to other departments in a particular company.
