Things To Do In Nakhon Sawan

A visit to Nakhon Sawan is mostly about appreciating nature and Thai culture. It has very beautiful sites, which are an aquarium, floating markets, mountain peaks, caves, among others.

The main rivers in Thailand converge here. It’s a very interesting Thai city with various things to do.

  • Religious Sites-The temples have beautiful architecture and history. Here you’ll view the paintings and statues. Most of them have gardens filled with flowers and courtyards to walk around, staircase climb and an amazing view of the city.

You can, light candles, view the bronze Buddha images and various structures, see a replica of the Lord Buddha’s Footprint, visit the shrine, learn or practice the rituals and experience the tranquility inside the temple. Wat Woranat Banphot and Wat Kiriwong, Wat Si Sawan Sangkharam, are just a few of the many temples here.

  • Parks- There are different parks in this province. The Sawan Park is big and very well planned, with trees, a garden, lawn, a fountain , a waterfall and a rose garden.

One can relax under the many shade trees on the beautiful lawn and take in the sights, or engage in the various activities found here, for instance yoga, tai-chi, use the fitness machines around the park, aerobics dance, ride a bike, play football or basketball.

Behind the park is a lake where one can feed the fish.

  • Bird Watching- You will find a lot of different types of birds in this city. A variety of migratory birds visit the different parks and national parks here, thus making it a bird-watcher’s paradise. Bueng Boraphet Swamp and Mae Wong National Park are well known for this activity.

 

  • Swimming, Paddling and Camping- The Mae Wong National Park is a source of many waterways with various canals and waterfalls, it also has a brook, winding mountains and a jungle, and a cave. It’s a wonderful place for swimming, paddling and is very suitable for camping and training programs. You can visit the various viewpoints on foot.

Aside from nature you’ll see monkeys and crocodiles.

  • Museums- In the Chan Sen Ancient City and Chan Sen Museum you’ll see different archeological excavations like lamps, jewels, axes, pottery and dolls. Here you will also learn a lot of Thai history that’s displayed in the museum.

 

  • Boat Riding- At the Chao Phraya River is where the four main rivers in Thailand converge. This is a good place for boat rides to take you along the different canals. The Nan river is reddish in colour while the Ping river is greenish in colour. You can clearly see the different colours of these rivers and the point at which they join.

There are boat races held on this river annually to show the unity of the people and the skill of the boat paddlers and owners

  • There are floating markets in Nakhoa Sawan. A good example is Wat Bang Pramung Floating Market. Here you can take a boat ride through the various canals around the orchid farms.

 

  • The largest freshwater swamp in Thailand, the Bueng Boraphet is found in Nakhoa Sawan. Here you will find boat rides for hire. Watching crocodile shows where men put their hand or head inside a crocodile’s mouth is an entertainment offered here.

 

  • Nightlife- The town is very friendly with a lot of decent people, therefore making friends is very easy. You can choose from the various nightclubs around the lake, bachelor hotel, soapy massage parlors and karaoke coyote houses. Bon Bon and the P.A Place are just two examples.
