At its peak, the chedi measures 60m across the square base and 80m tall and was once home of the Emerald Buddah, Thailand’s most sacred religious relic. On the premises are several structures of cultural significance, including the pillar of (Intakin), home to the principal Buddah image and a giant gum tree protecting the temple’s entrance. According to ancient beliefs of Lanna, the city pillar is erected at the epicenter of the town to mark the center of the universe, which in the past was the Lanna Kingdom.

Mae Sa Elephant Camp

This camp has been around since 1976, as a conservation center for domesticated elephants from across the country. It is home to more than 70 domesticated elephants and their mahouts. Wiang Kum Kam

For historic lovers, this is a must-see site. It is a pre-historic city dating back to the eighth century of the Haripunchai Kingdom. Located in attractive countryside above five kilometers south of Chiang Mai along the Ping Rive, here you will get to see stone tablets with Mon writing, architecture, pottery, earthenware and Buddhist sculptures. You will find a five-tired Chedi set on a square base as well as Burmese style-pavilion, which the temple features. Other significant structures include the Wat Chang Kham, containing the spirit house of King Mengrai and the Cultural and local Wisdom Learning Center, which exhibits Lanna objects and traditional Lanna style houses.

Karen Long Neck Tribe & Chiang Dao Cave

They have some of the most incredible stalactite and stalagmite formations in the country. The cave stretches kilometers into the mountains. Locals believe that it connects with several other caves, before it eventually emerging around Shan State that is at the other end across the border.
