The number 1 trillion has 12 zeroes. Written in numerical notation, 1 trillion is equivalent to 1,000,000,000,000.  It is also sometimes called one thousand billion and is written in scientific notation as 1×1012 or just 1012. The word billion comes from the French word trillion which referred to ‘Ëœtri + (m)illion’â„¢.

      Most people on the street have no idea how many zeros are in a trillion or for that
      matter, a billion.
