How many tigers are there in the wild?

3200.

This is the current number of tigers in the wild, according to World Wildlife Fund, the world’s leading conservation organization. Tigers in the wild live in tropical, temperate and evergreen forests, rainforests, mangrove swamps, grasslands, and savannas. It is feared that the extinction of tigers might happen soon because of its elevating record. 97% of them have been lost in just more than a century.

Moreover, tigers have lost 93% of their historic range. Clearing of forests for agriculture and timber trade and development activities ( e.g. building of road networks) are what force the tigers to live in miniature, diffuse islands, which threatens the existence of tigers in the wild and make them more vulnerable to poaching.
