How many thoracic vertebrae are there in humans?

12

It is important to know that in vertebrates, thoracic vertebrae compose the middle segment of the vertebral column, between the cervical vertebrae and the lumbar vertebrae.  On the other hand, in humans, they are intermediate in size between those of the cervical and lumbar regions.  There are 12 thoracic vertebrae at humans.  Believe it or not, at the same time, most marsupials have 13 vertebrae and koalas have only 11.  Horses have 20 thoracic vertebrae.  Keep in mind that the human thoracic vertebrae are numbered, with the first one (T1) located closest to the skull.
