Despite the lack of comprehensive theft statistics, the International Crime Victim Survey (ICVS), conducted by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), presents data collected from industrialized countries. According to the survey, about 15% of these countries’â„¢ population is victimized by theft each year, which equals about 140 million people. Theft cases include: car theft, theft from car, motorcycle theft, bicycle theft and personal theft.
