It is widely known the fact that tanks were an important weapons system in World War II.  Keep in mind that18000-22,000 tanks were used only by the Soviet Union Soviet during WW2.  It is interesting to know that from 1940 new tank designs were prepared.  Needless to say, the Battle of France had shown the importance of medium tanks.  At the start of the war, the countries with the largest tank forces were represented by France, German, Soviet Union and Great Britain.
