How many riots have there been in China?

Not too many people know that a riot is a form of civil disorder characterized often by what is thought of as disorganized groups lashing out in a sudden and intense rash of violence against authority, property or people.  For example, in 2005, there were 87,000 demonstrations and riots across China.  Keep in mind that unfortunately dealing with riots is an often difficult and dangerous task for police departments.  In some situations, the police force may use tear gas or CS gas to stop rioters.
