It is important to know that the Rajya Sabha (RS) is also named the Council of States.  The main idea is that Rajva Sabha represents the upper house of the Parliament of India.   Not too many people know that Rajya means “state”and Sabha means “assembly” in Sanskrit.  There are 250 members in Rajva Sabha.  Moreover, 12 of the members are nominated by the President of India for their contributions to art, literature, science, and social services.   Keep in mind that for anyone to become a member of the Rajya Sabha, the person must be at least 30 years of age.
