The number of remaining giant pandas in the world is estimated to be between 1,500-300. Reports vary depending on the sources. Giant pandas live in some mountain ranges in the central part of China, primarily in Sichuan province. They also exist in Gansu and Shaanxi provinces. Because of deforestation, farming and other development projects, pandas have been driven from their natural habitat.
