The nominees for the 83rd Academy Awards were announced on January 25, 2011, at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, California, by Tom Sherak, president of the Academy, and actress Mo’Nique. It is interesting to know that films receiving the most nominations were The King’s Speech with twelve, followed by True Grit with ten nominations. Needless to say, the winners were announced during the awards ceremony on February 27, 2011. It is widely known the fact that Academy Awards (commonly referred to as Oscars) are awarded in 24 competitive categories.
