The demand for organ, eye and tissue donation in the United States still significantly exceeds the number of donors.  Specialists consider that 98% of all adults have heard about organ donation and 86% have heard of tissue donation.  In 2012 there were 14,013 Organ Donors resulting in 28,052 organ transplants.  Needless to say, in 2012, more than 46,000 corneas were transplanted.  It is also important to know that more than 1 million tissue transplants are done each year.
