Statistics do not look too good at all. Believe it or not, opiate deaths surpass heroin and cocaine combined ones. Unfortunately, deaths from prescription painkillers have reached epidemic levels in the past decade. Needless to say, nearly 15,000 people die every year of overdoses involving prescription painkillers. The big problem is represented by the nonmedical use of prescription painkillers. The addiction to painkillers represents a real problem in many countries all over the world. So many persons use drugs without a prescription or use drugs just for the “high†they cause.
